Hamas — Victory for Israel & U.S.A.

The euphoria in the wake of the election victory of Hamas in Palestine is set to evaporate soon. At face-value the election result appears to be a victory for Hamas. On the contrary, it is a defeat which will give rise to new problems and new disasters.

Unlike Fatah—Yasar Arafat’s group—Hamas professes to be an Islamic movement. It thus speaks in the name of Islam and has a programme of Islamic morality to implement.

On the other hand, Fatah which constituted the Palestinian Authority before the election, is an avowedly irreligious, un-Islamic party. There is no common ground between Hamas and Fatah.

ARMED
Fatah is armed just as Hamas is. They have not accepted their defeat at the polls honourably. Relinquishing the semblance of power they had in Palestine is detestable to Fatah. Its members had already displayed their displeasure over the defeat of Fatah by forcibly occupying the so-called parliament building and other offices of the Palestinian government—if it could at all be called ‘government’.

Decades of violence have inculcated a culture of disrespect for authority. They are not going to submit easily to Hamas rule. They are bound to challenge Hamas with violence, anarchy and strife.

FOCUS
An entirely new dimension in the Palestine-Israel struggle is about to evolve. Hitherto, the energy of Hamas was directed to only Israel. Henceforth, this equation will change. The focus will now shift away from Israel. The fight will be between Hamas and Fatah.

Deep-seated jealousy for Hamas and Fatah’s aversion for the Shariah together with the humiliating defeat in the election will plunge the two movements in an internecine struggle which will spill the blood of their own people to the delight of Israel and the U.S.A.

A period of relative peace for Israel may be ushered in while Hamas will be drawn into a life and death struggle by the evil Fatah move-ment. Hamas will have no option but to defend itself against its evil brethren of the Fatah movement.

Hamas will have little choice in this matter. In the effort to assert itself as the ruler, its effort, energy and attention will all have to be shifted away from the struggle against Israel and concentrated on subduing Fatah. Only Israel and the U.S.A. will benefit in this new Palestine scenario.

EXPLOIT
Israel and the U.S.A. will not miss the opportunity of exploiting this unenviable situation of extracting maximum benefit for Israel from the murderous infighting of the two brothers May Allah Ta’ala save muslims from their own evil.
